    PENGGUNAAN TEKNIK PERMAINAN PAIRE MINIMALE UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA BAHASA PERANCIS

    This study aims to know: (l) the results of student learning before and after using the minimal pairs game tchnique; (2) effectiveness of minimal pairs game technique; and (3) students’ thought on minimal pairs game. This study uses a quantitative method with pre-experimental research design: One Group Pre-test and Post-test. The population of this study is characteristic of French speaking skills at the level of the pronunciation of the third semester students of the academic year 2016/2017 with a sample of 30 students. Data obtained through tests and questionnaires. The results showed that the average value of pre-test and post-test increased by 4.33%. In addition, based on the result of t test, minimal pairs game technique is effectively improving the speaking skills of students at the level of pronunciation, i.e. tcount is greater than the value of ttable (5.69> 2.05). Based on questionnaire data analysis, the researcher concluded that the technique of minimal pairs game contributes positively to the ability of a student to pronounce. The advantages of minimal pairs game technique among others, are: (1) interesting; (2) an alternative to train pronunciation; (3) help students to train the pronunciation of the word with an identical sound; (4) increase the motivation to learn; (5) learning is more fun. On the other hand, the disadvantages are as follows: (1) it may require a longer learning period; (2) the rule is quite difficult; (3) the cards are difficult to obtain; (4) a lot of minimal pairs should be prepared; (5) it must be played together. Based on these results, this study is expected to be one of the reference materials for teaching French language subjects.;---Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui : (l) hasil belajar mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan teknik permainan paire minimale; (2) efektivitas teknik permainan paire minimale; dan (3) penilaian mahasiswa terhadap teknik permainan paire minimale. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian pra-eksperimental : One Group Pretest-Posttest. Populasi penelitian ini adalah keterampilan berbicara bahasa Perancis pada tataran pelafalan mahasiswa semester III tahun ajaran 2016/2017 dengan sampel penelitian 30 orang mahasiswa. Data diperoleh melalui tes dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata prates dan pascates meningkat 4,33%. Selain itu, berdasarkan hasil uji t teknik permainan paire minimale efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa pada tataran pelafalan, yaitu nilai thitung lebih besar dari nilai ttabel (5,69 > 2,05). Berdasarkan analisis data angket, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa teknik permainan paire minimale berkontribusi positif terhadap kemampuan melafalkan mahasiswa. Kelebihan teknik permainan paire minimale, antara lain : (1) menarik; (2) dapat menjadi alternatif untuk melatih pelafalan; (3) membantu melatih pelafalan pada kata dengan bunyi hampir serupa; (4) meningkatkan motivasi belajar; (5) pembelajaran lebih menyenangkan. Adapun kekurangannya yaitu : (1) perlu waktu pembelajaran yang lama; (2) aturan main cukup sulit; (3) kartu sulit didapatkan; (4) kata pasangan minimal harus dalam jumlah yang cukup banyak; (5) harus dimainkan bersama-sama. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, peneliti merekomendasikan teknik permainan ini sebagai teknik pembelajaran alternatif

    ABSTRACT The Use of Cohesive Devices in Texts across Genres: A Case Study of Students at an English Language and Literature Program Mery Nur Andini (1400918) Main Supervisor : Wawan Gunawan, M.Ed.St., Ph.D. Second Supervisor : Dr. Ruswan Dallyono This study aims to investigate the types of cohesive devices in students’ texts across genres at an English Language and Literature Program. The use of cohesive devices has been a significant idea in Discourse Analysis, especially for writing a text. The data were collected from five students who have passed Writing for General Communication courses in the first and second semester. The total number of the text was twenty five. The theoretical framework of Halliday and Hasan (1976), Halliday and Matthiessen (2014), and Martin and Rose (2008) were used to identify the types of cohesive devices and their function in the texts. The analysis was conducted through a qualitative research method. The findings show that both grammatical and lexical cohesive devices were found in the students’ texts. For the grammatical cohesive devices, personal reference ‘I’ (2.56%),demonstrative ‘the’ (4%), and comparative ‘more’ (0.6%) are the most frequently used. Meanwhile, ‘and’ (2.31%) and ‘but’ (0.68%) are the most written conjunctions. The least used grammatical cohesive devices in the texts are ellipsis (0.02%) and substitution (0.01%). Meanwhile, for lexical cohesive devices, repetition (0.21%), meronymy (0.19%), hyponymy (0.14%), and collocation (1.23%) constantly appear in the texts. ‘I’ is used to represent first personal reference. Demonstrative ‘the’ refers to familiarity of things or events. ‘More’ is used for showing a particular quality is stronger than others. Conjunctions ‘and’ and ‘but’for saying additional information and opposite ideas. Ellipsis and substituion are for avoiding the redundancy of verbs, nouns, or clauses. The function of of lexical cohesive devices (repetition, hyponymy, meronymy, and collocation) is to minimize the monotony of language. Based on the analysis, the present study confirms the findings of Afrianto (2017) and Mankevych (2016) which state that ellipsis and substitution, as the grammatical cohesive devices, are not used regularly by students. Additionally, the findings of the present study prove that the use of cohesive devices take a crucial part in the process of writing in order to keep semantic relations in a text.     This study aims to determine the role of Salam TV in promoting harmony among religious communities in North Sumatera. This research method is a qualitative method that aims to get an in-depth description of speech, writing and behavior observed from an individual, group, community or organization in a specific setting which is studied from a comprehensive perspective. Salam TV does not produce programs that specifically feature harmony or tolerance. Salam TV's strategy in establishing harmony among religious communities is maintaining the shows that do not contain expressions of hatred that can trigger conflicts between religious communities. Institutionally Salam TV opens itself to work together in social and cultural fields to non-Muslim institutions.

    Youth’s Trust in Online News Media About The Corona Virus Issues

    News and information about the corona virus has become the topic most often consumed by the public lately despite the declining public trust in the media both traditional media and online media. It also affects the younger generation in consuming media and trusting the credibility of a media. This study aims to determine the trust of students who have studied science related to the media, namely students of Islamic communication and broadcasting UINSU on online news websites about the corona virus and how is the relationship between the selection of online news website with trust in media. This study uses descriptive correlational methods with as many respondents 228 people. This research found that most of the students chose national online news websites in getting news about corona and there was no significant relationship between online news site selection and students' belief that the online news websites  published accurate facts about corona virus

    Isnaini Ira Nur Andini (1606055). Rancangan Pembelajaran Model Cooperative Learning Tipe Jigsaw Untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar IPS Pada Peserta Didik Kelas V Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan rancangan pelaksanaan pembelajaran model cooperative learning tipe jigsaw untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas V SD pada pelajaran IPS materi ekonomi. Dalam model cooperative learning tipe jigsaw terdapat langkah-langkah yang harus di lakukan yaitu menyampaikan tujuan dan informasi, mengorganisasikan siswa dalam kelompok, membimbing kelompok bekerja dan belajar, evaluasi, pemberian penghargaan, dan post test. Dalam penelitian ini subjek dan partisipan terdiri dari tiga orang yaitu ahli konten, ahli ke SDan, dan ahli praktisi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dimana hasil dan tanggapan dari ahli berupa deskriptif atau penjelasan. Teknik penelitian dan pengelolahan data yang digunakan yaitu teknik Delphi dengan mengimplementasi langkah-langkah seperti membuat rancangan hipotesis pembelajaran (RHP) tahap satu, memberikan RHP kepada pakar untuk memperoleh kesepakatan dan/atau saran perbaikan, peneliti menerima kesepakatan dan/atau saran perbaikan dari pakar, peneliti melakukan perbaikan RHP, selanjutnya diberikan kepada pakar untuk memperoleh kesepakatan RHP tahap dua, dan peneliti menerima hasil kesepakatan dari pakar. Berdasarkan langkah-langkah penelitian yang sudah dilakukan peneliti mendapatkan hasil bahwa model pembelajaran cooperative learning tipe jigsaw dipandang relevan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS materi ekonomi di kelas V SD, adapun pembelajarannya yang harus meliputi tiga tahap yaitu pada kegiatan pembukaan, kegiatan inti dan kegiatan penutup. Jigsaw Cooperative Model Learning Design to Improve Learning Outcomes of IPS on Fifth Grade Elementary School Students This research aims to describe jigsaw cooperative model learning design to improve the learning outcomes on economics of IPS course for fifth-grade elementary school students. Some steps are needed in jigsaw cooperative model learning design, these are: convey purpose and information, organize students into groups, guide the work and study groups, evaluate, awarding, and post-test. This research consists of three participants that are: content expert, elementary school expert, expert practitioner. Descriptive research is used in this research. Data collection and research technique used in this study is Delphi technique by implementing steps which are: hypothesis learning design stage one, submitting hypothesis learning design to expert for agreement and/or improvement suggestions, researcher receiving agreement and/or suggestions from the expert, researcher work on improvements for hypothesis learning design stage two, which then submitted to expert for hypothesis learning design stage two, then finally researcher receiving the result of agreement from the expert. Based on the steps mentioned, researcher found that jigsaw cooperative model learning design is considered relevant to improve the learning outcome on economics of IPS course for fifth-grade elementary school students as long as it consists of three stages of learning which are: opening, core, and closing segment

    This research discusses Hannah Peace’s suicide by exploring her past life, from her childhood until she decides to commit suicide. This research aims to find core issues faced by her and what triggers her to commit suicide. Psychoanalysis theories and theory of suicide proposed by Shneidman are applied in this research. The results show that her suicide is caused by psychological pain which stems from many painful experiences in her past life. After exploring her distressing experiences, it can be said that Hannah faces two core issues, which are fear of abandonment and fear of intimacy. However, her suicide is not merely caused by psychological pain. There are two factors which lead to her suicide: intrapsychic and interpersonal factors. Intrapsychic factor refers to the internal psychological processes of an individual, while interpersonal factor refers to the relationship between an individual and other people
